How to actually make the most of a rainy winter wedding.

I got married on the 28th December 2023. That's right, just after Christmas and just before New Years, as if there wasn't enough going on! Luckily for me, this is my favourite time of year for the fun and festivities, but what isn't my vibe is a red and green colour scheme and cold lit fairy lights... Warm lighting is definitely my love language.

There are many benefits to getting married in the winter. It is off peak season so you can find cheaper venue rates, your guest turn out will be higher (as most of us are off holiday-ing in the summer) and at the end of every year, everyone wants to party and get in the festive spirit! So you can rest easy knowing your guests will let loose on dance floor all night long.

Now there are obviously some risky elements about a winter wedding, the main being the unpredictable weather. Did I imagine clear blue skies and frosty mornings for my winter wedding? Absolutely. Did I get that? Absolutely not. But I planned in advance and invested in is a fantastic photographer, who I knew would turn the coldest, drabbest, rainiest old day into a warm, joyous and fun-filled occasion. The trick is, finding a photographer who truly captures the fun, the laughter, the love and emotion of the day - Ultimately that is where your winter warmth will shine from!

Take the time to find a photographer's style that you know will work for you

I found Clare Robinson Photography on Instagram, after trawling through many photographers who I just didn't click with. Clare's photography is filled with vibrancy and a rich tapestry of sophisticated colour palettes. The way she captures people's laughter and playfulness is also what instantly hooked me, every wedding shoot she did made me want to join in the fun! That's how I knew, that despite my worries of the weather being less than ideal, Clare would be able to deliver an album that truly captured the essence of the day, as she captures the people who make it so special.

My wedding day was the morning after storm Gerrit, at the White Hart Inn, Lydgate (Greater Manchester). You would never know from the glorious photos that the intermittent storm (that brought a tornado to a local town not far away) was blustering outside. The one thing I really wanted from the day was to have some lovely outdoor photos - But the odds were stacked against me. Without Clare's expertise and perfect timing, we would never have got any photographs outside and that really was my biggest wish.  How on Earth my fringe managed to hold up in those outside photos I'll never know! But please have a peak at a few of my gorgeous wedding photos below.

If I can recommend anything for your winter wedding, its to book Clare Robinson Photography! She will provide the warmth when the winter weather simply can't.
